Congratulations David Michel on receiving the George A. Weinstock! This is a tremendous honor and a testament to your dedication and hard work to the California Alarm Association and the alarm industry. Your contributions have made a significant impact on the industry and this award is well-deserved recognition of your achievements. We can’t wait to honor you in San Francisco in December! 

As we enter into the third month of the year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the progress we’ve made so far in 2023. As always, our focus is on advancing the interests of our members and promoting the highest standards of professionalism within the security industry. We have an exciting lineup of events and training opportunities this year, which we believe will help our membership stay ahead of the curve in this ever-evolving industry.

In my short time as President I am realizing all the moving parts that make the California Alarm Association so great. Within the last month Committees have been finalized, Conventions scheduled, budgets set, and Chapter meetings slated for the coming year. I am excited for the value we are bringing to membership in 2023.

I am honored to be elected as you incoming President of the California Alarm Association.

First, I would like to thank Mike Salk for his leadership and guidance over the past two years. His dedication to our organization has helped us grow and thrive, and I am grateful for his contributions.

The end of 2022 is approaching rapidly – such a busy time of year!  Halloween seems to be the start of the transition into winter.  It is followed by Thanksgiving, then CAA Winter Convention (our favorite time of the year), Hanukkah, Christmas, and a gentle slide into the New Year, at the speed of light!  Buckle-up! Here we go….

Our fourth quarter is now upon us, and many of you are gearing for end of year sales sprints, budgeting for the next year, and undoubtedly making personal holiday plans.

Here we are in September heading quickly to the start of Q4.  Schools are back in session with in-person classes, most businesses are working steadfastly to get back on their feet, and traffic is near pre-pandemic levels.  We have all been changed by this virus and I hope all of you are focusing on a brighter future. 

Tim Westphal and I met the EBAA Scholarship recipient Jillian Ferreira, her father Sgt. Mark Ferreira (Vacaville PD) and her mother Lori at the Vacaville PD Friday to congratulate them and deliver her check. They were very appreciative of the contribution to her college education. It is a wonderful experience to meet these high level achievers and recognize their efforts!! SMILES FROM EAR TO EAR!! A big “THANK YOU” to the Scholarship Committee and judges who make this dream a reality!! 

Here we are midway through the summer. I hope that you are enjoying the summer months with family, friends, vacations and celebrations. I was pleased to see nearly 300 industry leaders at our CAA Palm Springs Convention in May. My thanks to the presenters of (24) industry specific workshops who challenged us to reconsider our current operations and con-sider our future options.

Many of us just got back from the CAA Summer Conference in Palm Springs. It was an awesome event with well over three hundred attendees. I want to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to the VIP Gold, Silver, and Bronze Convention Sponsors for their very generous support that allowed this event to be so successful! We all appreciate you!!
