40th
Commissioner of the New York City Police Department and
September 11th First-Hand Witness
(NORWALK, Conn. Dec. 12) - - -
-When two hijacked airliners struck the Twin Towers of the World
Trade Center on September 11, 2001, Bernard B. Kerik was at the
scene within minutes. Responding to what seemed to him was an
all-out attack on the U.S., Kerik’s first-hand experience is a
unique discussion of the indescribable. Mark your calendar to
hear Bernard B. Kerik’s career experiences, highlights and
challenges at this year’s ISC West opening day Industry Summit
on Wed. March 31st at 9:00 AM at the Sands Expo and
Convention Center. ISC West, SIA and the California Alarm
Association (CAA) sponsor the event.
No stranger to adversity,
Kerik was on the scene moments after two hijacked airliners
struck the World Trade Center, and worked tirelessly with Mayor
Rudy Giuliani to coordinate rescue efforts, ensure the city’s
safety and to reassure America with his strength and
determination and hands-on leadership. Candid and inspirational,
Kerik relates the lessons of his experiences with the leadership
challenges we all must face.
Named senior
policy advisor to the US Presidential Envoy to Iraq and Iraq’s
Interim Minister of Interior, Bernard B. Kerik was tasked with
rebuilding Iraq’s police, fire, emergency services, customs and
immigration, and border force – the largest international
reconstruction project of its kind -arriving in Bagdad just days
after the coalition forces invaded the city.
As New York
City’s 40th police commissioner, he managed a $3.2
billion budget, led 55,000 employees, improved officer morale
and reduced crime by 12 percent. Before his role as police
commissioner, Kerik built an extensive background in
anti-terrorism and spent several years working in the Middle
East.
